On Wednesday, June 26th, at the NIS Business Center in Novi Sad, a panel discussion titled "Sustainable Business Strategy" was held, organized by the Advise Institute by Energy Net.
The panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Bojan Lalić, with panelists including Prof. Dr. Uglješa Marjanović (FTN), Prof. Dr. Maja Petrović (FTN), and Dr. Goran Lalić, Director of the Advise Institute.
The panel focused on the importance of sustainability strategies in modern business, exploring whether attention to and focus on this topic are crucial for company survival. It was highlighted that a clear sustainable business strategy not only strengthens business branding but also addresses the demands of partners, customers, and investors, securing a company's place in the business chain and ensuring its continuity.
A key point raised was the influence of regulators and government on industries, emphasizing the need for clear boundaries within which businesses operate. Additionally, the concepts of scope and metrics were discussed, particularly the calculation of CO2 emissions, which is an important aspect of sustainability strategy and a key parameter in companies' ESG and CBAM reporting.
The panel also introduced the book Sustainable Business Strategy by Andrew Grantham, the first publication from the Advise Institute. The book aims to serve as a practical guide for decision-makers, businesses, industries, and anyone who recognizes the importance of sustainability. It was printed on recycled paper, with the first edition of 500 copies "saving" 15 mature trees.
The book offers updated perspectives on standardized topics, tools, and models, while also introducing the sustainability paradigm, which could have significant impacts on various industries.
At the conclusion of the panel, NIS (nis.rs/odrzivi-razvoj/) and Energy Net (energynet.rs/kompanija/odrzivo-poslovanje/) were highlighted as examples of good practices in sustainability, showcasing how large and medium-sized enterprises can effectively approach this topic.
